Raasay has his own private quarters which are heated, have electric light and a radio. He also enjoys joining you in the garden and lend a helping paw, particularly if there is any mixing of concrete or digging of dirt, basically anything where he can get very grubby. He has already helped (or should that be hindered) with the laying of our patio, potting up of plants and growing tomatoes and potatoes. When all this activity becomes too much he flops down in his favourite spot under the rose bush at the bottom of the garden. As as show cat he did more than we could have ever imagined. He Was unbeaten as a kitten, was nominated for Best in Show 5 times and was Best in Show Kitten at the Southern & South-Western Birman show and Overall Best in Show at the Seal & Blue Point Birman show.
The success didn't stop when he became an adult and he became a Champion in three straight shows by the age of just eleven months. His Grand Champion title also was won in three straight shows by the age of fourteen months. He won his first Imperial Grand Champion certificate at his first attempt at this level.
So far in his show career Raasay has won:
14 Open class Firsts, 5 Challenge Certificates, 5 Grand Certificates, 1 Reserve Grand Certificate, 2 Imperial Grand Certificates, 11 Best of Breed Awards, 3 Best In Show Awards and 46 Misc. Class Firsts.
Raasay's show career is being taken at a slower pace giving him time to concentrate on his other interests (the queens) and we are looking forward to him siring some beautiful kittens for us. His first litters can be seen on the kittens page.
